Leadership Team
The Power of Love Foundation currently has 2 full-time staff members and approximately 15 committed volunteers who each contribute much of their discretionary time to Power of Love. These volunteers pool their skills from business, academia, information technology, hospital management, and banking to work seamlessly across time zones in five countries. In addition, Power of Love hires out all its administrative, legal, and accounting needs thereby maintaining low fixed costs.
Suresh Subramanian, Ph.D. Executive Director
Suresh has over 14 years of middle and senior international management experience in the high-tech industry, 4 years of leading a $150m US foundation, as well as serving on the board of the Global AIDS Alliance and as co-Founder of the Community Innovation Lab at MIT.
Alka Subramanian, Ph.D. Director
Alka has 10 years of experience in the field of international economics and development and over 7 years as a professor of Business. She has published extensively and presented her research in multiple international conferences and proceedings. Alka is a strong force at the Foundation toward empowering women and care-givers, and using love actively to fight the epidemic. Alka evaluates and manages the partnerships with the grassroots organizations we support.
Joy Amulya Ed.D. Programs Director & MTAC Project Manager
Joy works domestically and internationally to promote research, implementation, support, and evaluation of community initiatives. She has extensive experience designing and implementing strategies for learning and knowledge building with community organizations, project teams, philanthropic institutions, university courses, service learning teams, and research groups. Joy holds research appointments at the Center for Reflective Community Practice at MIT, the Center for Lifelong Learning and Design at the University of Colorado, and the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
Mélissa Edoh Arm's Reach Care Project Manager
Mélissa is a Togolese-American who graduated from MIT in Political Science and African Studies in 2003. After an initial 7 month stay in Zambia to learn about community-centered approaches to AIDS, she was awarded a Fulbright research scholarship in 2004. She returned to Zambia and began working directly with Power of Love. She will pursue a Ph.d. in Public Health, focusing on community-based socio-economic development in underdeveloped countries, primarily in Africa. Away from work, Mélissa valiantly attempts to create wearable clothing with her sewing machine.
Denis Champ Matero Care Center Project Manager
Denis has 20 years of management experience, including 10 years as General Manager for Baker Hughes Inteq (an American MNC) in Nigeria, Cameroon, and Equatorial Guinea and 5 years as General Manager for International SOS (a French MNC) in Nigeria and Vietnam. He decided in 2001 to solely pursue humanitarian work and photography with his Singaporean wife. He splits his time between SE Asia, France, and now Africa.
Susan Rust Communications
Susan is the founder of and a partner at Green Bird Media, a graphic and web design firm. A summa cum laude graduate of design & fine arts, she enjoys both the creativity and strategy of running a company whose mission is to help small companies and nonprofits grow through branding and communication.
Trupti Storlie Website Management & CHART Project Manager
Trupti is a Mechnical Engineering graduate of the University of Minnesota. She has worked as a consultant and business analyst, focusing on customer-centric strategy, analytics, process re-engineering, and technology development. She moved with her husband to Japan in 2003 and is currently teaching English and working on independent website development.
