Dear Power of Love Friend: Hope you are having a wonderful summer.
Many of you have asked us to share stories about the children in our program. This month we want to bring you information about two of our "little heroes". Thank you for your support and helping our "little heroes" lead normal lives and dream of a better future.
Kevin (not his real name) is a shy, sweet 9-year-old boy who has been with Power of Love's Arm's Reach Program since 2008. He lives with his grandparents, aunt and uncle in a small house in the Matero compound in Lusaka, Zambia. Kevin's dad passed away in 2004 due to complications from AIDS. Soon thereafter, he lost his mom in 2005 and his older brother in 2006. Kevin doesn't have a uniform or shoes for school, which makes attendance challenging, especially during the winter. Despite these difficult circumstances, Kevin loves school, and especially math. He wants to be a soldier when he grows up. As a result of the care provided by the Power of Love program his health is stable, he is attending school, and he continues to play and chase his dreams every day.

Tina (not her real name) is a 12 year old fifth grader. She lost her father when she was two months old. She lives with her mother, grandparents, sister and brother who are all unemployed. Tina loves school especially art, but she has only one uniform and one pair of shoes. She eats cornmeal most meal times though she needs a diet high in protein. Her grandfather works part time on a farm and her mother wants to start selling charcoal to bring in a little money for the household. Tina's health is improving even though she has been on our program for only for six months.

Thanks to your help, our "little heroes" live close to normal lives and most are back in school. Please donate generously at www.poweroflove.org so that we can provide continuous quality health care, food and medicines to all 135 children enrolled in our program. As always 100% of your donations go towards programs in the field and no amount is spent for overheads.
