February 2011

Dear Power of Love Friend:

Happy new year! We ushered in this wonderful new year by providing one thousand long-lasting insecticide treated nets to women and children vulnerable to malaria in Lusaka, Zambia. As a direct result of this distribution, we expect to see a reduced incidence of malaria in the Matero compound in Lusaka, and more children this month in school. Thank you for helping us make this distribution possible.

Malaria continues to be the leading cause of death for children under five years of age in Africa. A high prevalence of HIV in the region makes the people even more vulnerable to infection. Malaria, an easily preventable disease, can be fatal for children with HIV. As always, the majority of the nets we distributed to children under five years of age and pregnant mothers. For a report from the field click here.

This year, the Power of Love team would like to provide an additional 2000 nets to communities in Zambia. In this season of fresh starts and resolutions, I urge you to keep Power of Love in your thoughts and give a gift of health and hope to women and children impacted by HIV/AIDS and malaria in Zambia.

Please donate at www.poweroflove.org and reach out to us at any time with questions. As always, 100% of your donation will be used for the programs above (no part of your donation is used for overhead expenses).

With love from the Power of Love team.
