Stories of Children in our Pediatric AIDS Care Program - Fall 2011

Clement Chewe

Clement is one of the newest additions to our pediatric AIDS care program. He is eighteen months old and both his parents tested positive for HIV when Clement was enrolled in the program in September 2011. Clement suffers from diarrhea and vomiting and is being provided with food, medicines and weekly visits from the Nurse/health care worker. In addition, our program provides counseling to Clements’s mom (who is pregnant) to accept her status and start ARV medication.

David Junika

David enrolled in our program a few months ago. His mom is HIV positive and his father is HIV negative. Before enrollment in our pediatric AIDS care program, David suffered from diarrhea, vomiting and was losing weight. He now receives a high protein soya supplement with his food and is visited bi-weekly by the program Nurse/health care worker. Currently, David is on ARVs, and his health is stable.

Agnes Daka

Agnes is the youngest of 7 children. She has 4 half-brothers and 3 half-sisters. Agnes enrolled in our pediatric AIDS care program in September 2011 and tested positive for HIV. She suffers from persistent skin rash and is being provided with food, medicines and weekly health check-ups from the Nurse/health worker.
