We are already into February but it's never too late to wish you a very blessed and fulfilling 2006.
The year that went by was a great year of building for Power of Love and there is a wonderful sense of excitement and expectation as we start 2006.
In this, the first e-News of the year, we want to highlight Jagruthi - an innovative POL program based in India.
Experts agree that India likely has the highest number of HIV infected people in the world and the epidemic is showing all signs of gaining momentum - déjà vu to Africa 15 years ago - rapid growth of the infection in the general population, high levels of stigma, and a sense of denial from the public health sources. It is critical to build responses now and quickly if we are to prevent the Africa experience from repeating itself - except that with a population of 1 Billion, the outcome in India could be far greater.
Jagruthi is an innovative program started by Renu Appachu, a determined social worker, who 10 years ago walked away from family and career to focus her life on building and running a program to care for children and adults impacted and infected by HIV. Renu's extensive background and education in business is visible in the way the = organization operates - with a clear vision, goals, budgeting, metrics, and focus on efficiency.
Please consider supporting Jagruthi and the other Power of Love Foundation projects. As always, every dollar collected from you will be sent in its entirety to the programs with no amount being spent on overheads of running the organization.
