February 2020 - Nets Needed to Complement a New Malaria Vaccine

Dear Power of Love Friend: Happy February! The world's first malaria vaccine is being tested in Malawi, Kenya and Ghana. According to the World Health Organization, this vaccine is a "complementary malaria control tool" to be used in addition to insecticide treated bed nets, indoor spraying and prompt treatment. This implies that sleeping under a mosquito net is still the most cost effective method of prevention malaria. Hence, there is a huge need for malaria bed nets in Africa as most communities cannot afford to purchase nets.

You can help prevent malaria by helping raise funds to provide 12,000 mosquito bed nets this year, so we can keep 24,000 adults or 40,000 children malaria free. Each net can sleep two adults or up to four young children. Your donation of $10 will provide two nets that can prevent malaria for a family of two adults and four young children. Every dollar counts and helps keep orphans and vulnerable children malaria free. As always, 100% of your donations go towards programs and no part is used for overheads.
