The ongoing pandemic has made life more difficult for vulnerable communities globally. In resource poor communities, more families face food insecurity due to the impact of COVID, and other factors such as climate change and conflict.
Programs for Children
July 2021 - New Businesses Launched by Vulnerable Women
Dear friend: Happy July! Our experience over the last 15 years has shown that two things – access to credit and business training – are needed to help ensure that women are able to start and grow their personal businesses. Earnings from businesses help pay for food, medicines, rent, and school expenses. Healthy and educated children, in turn, educate the next generation.
Our Zambian Family is Growing
Grandmothers, mothers and aunts in Africa take care of their HIV+ children with very few resources. Most families enrolled in our pediatric HIV care program face food insecurity, illness, impact of HIV, and have insufficient knowledge about HIV.
Business Training and New Loans Provided to First Time Entrepreneurs
Today we are thinking of the mothers and aunts in Africa who cannot afford necessities such as food, medicines and rent for their families and school expenses for their children. Since last year, COVID has aggravated the situation.
8000 Mosquito Bed Nets Provided to Keep Vulnerable Families Malaria Free
Zambia is among the 20 countries with the highest malaria incidence and mortality globally. Most families living in resource poor neighborhoods, are vulnerable to malaria but do not have the information on how to prevent malaria or the resources to purchase mosquito bed nets.
COVID Education Workshops for the Community
Today we are thinking of mothers and aunts in Africa whose families are vulnerable to COVID. Families in Zambia are especially vulnerable as they have little or no information about COVID and have weaker immune systems if living with HIV.
June 2021 - Our Zambian Family Is Growing
Dear friend: Happy Summer!
May 2021 - Wishing All Moms a Happy Mother's Day
Dear friend: As Mother's day draws near, we are thinking of mothers and aunts in Africa who cannot afford food, medicines, and rent for their families and school expenses for their children. Most women in these communities lack marketable skills and have no regular source of income. COVID, last year, aggravated the situation.
April 2021 - Families Are Enjoying Their Environmentally Friendly Cooking Stoves
Dear friend: Hope you have received the COVID vaccine or have a date to do so. In Zambia, as everywhere else, COVID has had a large negative impact on vulnerable families.
March 2021 - Thanks for Keeping Vulnerable Families Malaria Free
Dear Power of Love Friend: Happy March! In Zambia, transmission rates for malaria are high throughout the country. To keep vulnerable families malaria free, 3,000 insecticide treated nets were provided in rural and urban areas in Zambia. Nets provision was preceded by a demonstration and education session, and all activities were completed in a safe manner.
